Share TweetBy Ben RosarioCiting the urgency of addressing the worsening effects of climate change in the country, the chairman of the House Special Committee on Climate Change has declared that it has become imperative for Congress to exercise its oversight function over the implementation of climate change laws. CCC Secretary Emmanuel de Guzman, who briefed climate change panel about its plans and programs, disclosed that the Philippines has been “at the receiving end of the effects of climate change’ for the past several years now. De Guzman recommended the initiation of a national policy on climate change and mitigation updated lawmakers on the cooperative action of the international community in battling the effects of climate change. Deputy Speaker and Antique Rep. Loren Legarda backed the congressional move to guarantee stricter implementation of the country’s climate change laws and policies.
