House of Commons unanimously passes motion to apologize to Mark Norman and his family

OTTAWA — Members of Parliament unanimously passed a motion on Tuesday to recognize the decades of military service by Vice-Admiral Mark Norman, and apologize to him and his family for the experience of the criminal case that ended last week. Prosecutors said they came to their decision after Norman’s defence team provided them with new information. After the case collapsed, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said the government would now pay for Norman’s legal bills. During the court case, Norman’s defence team repeatedly alleged the government was being obstructionist about access to documents that Norman would need to prove his innocence. The questions are certain to feature heavy focus on the Norman case.
