Firefighters were called to a house fire on Lockwood Rd, near Rongotea Rd, about 2.30pm on Friday. A Fire and Emergency spokesman said hree fire trucks and two rural tankers attended the scene and the fire was well ablaze by the time they arrived. The spokesman said the fire would have caused substantial damage to the houseIts cause was under investigation.
