A staff member of the House of Representatives (HoR) tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Secretary General Jose Luis Montales confirmed in a message to employees late Thursday night. The employee was part of the House Printing Service and who has been in and out of hospitals for various ailments since last year. Montales said the person had no history of travel to another country with a confirmed Covid-19 case and had no known history of exposure to a Covid-19 patient. Due to the confirmed case, Montales required all personnel of the House Printing Service to undergo self-quarantine. At least five lawmakers are currently under self-quarantine as a precautionary measure for being directly and indirectly exposed to Covid-19 cases.These are Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab, Iloilo City Rep. Julienne “Jam” Baronda, Biñan City Rep. Marlyn “Len, Alonte, Valenzuela 2nd District Rep. Eric Martinez and Navotas City Rep. John Reynald Tiangco.
