More than three dozen House Republicans have reached out to the U.S. Olympic Committee expressing concerns over political statements of American athletes who will be representing the U.S. at this summer’s games in Tokyo. The lawmakers implored the USOC to remind athletes to adhere to Rule 50 of the International Olympic Committee’s charter, which bars political expression by competitors. He said Americans have wanted Olympians "to compete as hard as they can to follow all the rules and to hopefully come out victoriously and show and showcase the United States of America." "Our political neutrality is undermined whenever organizations or individuals attempt to use the Olympic Games as a stage for their own agendas, as legitimate as they may be." We want them to be as enthusiastic about representing the United States as all of us who are in Congress," Rosendale said.
