THE House of Representatives on Tuesday approved the proposed “Internet Transactions Act” on 3rd and final reading. The bill seeks to protect consumers and merchants engaged in internet transactions. It also creates the Electronic Commerce (eCommerce) Bureau. The eCommerce Bureau will act as the “central authority” that consumers and merchants may approach for complaints. It would lead the development of an online dispute resolution platform, which would be the single point of entry for consumers and online merchants seeking out-of-court resolution of disputes.
