Hotline ding: Soccer star David Beckham banned from driving for six months for using cell phone in his Bentley

LONDON — David Beckham has been banned from driving for six months for using a cell phone while behind the wheel of his Bentley. A prosecutor said a member of the public spotted the former Manchester United and England soccer star holding a phone while driving through central London on Nov. 21. According to the BBC, Beckham was seen to be “operating a handheld device at knee level” as he drove along London’s Great Portland Street. “He takes his children to school each day when he can and he picks them up when he can, and actually to deprive them of that is something that he will acknowledge,” Tyrrell told the court. According to the BBC, Moore told Beckham there was “no excuse” for the offence, but did acknowledge that traffic had been moving slowly.
