Richard Moore first starting claiming cash via his insurance policy with Aviva in 2013 when he lost his job and fell into a period of depression. Staff at the insurance company got suspicious when they saw a photo of Moore in The Bury Times posing with North Bury MP James Frith. Smelling a rat, Aviva sent employees to follow Moore for two days to see how able he was to work. A year later, Moore started working again at a different company, but didn’t notify Aviva. "Today’s sentencing makes the point that insurance fraud is a crime and if you commit insurance fraud, it is very likely you will be caught and prosecuted – as Mr Moore has learned the hard way.
