The Tamil Nadu government’s land acquisition for the proposed international airport near Hosur has sparked strong resistance among local farmers, who plan to meet Chief Minister M K Stalin to request that the project be paused, The Times of India reported. Nearly 2,980 acres across Hosur and Shoolagiri taluks have been earmarked for the facility, and 845 acres have already been acquired, according to officials. Two locations were shortlisted — Belakondapalli and surrounding areas, and Muthali with adjacent villages across Hosur and Shoolagiri. Following administrative approval in October 2025, land acquisition began across villages including Palavanapalli, Petthamuthali, Adavanapalli, Karupalli, Nandimangalam and others. Local cultivators argue the Hosur airport plan threatens farmland and livelihoods, offering little benefit to nearby communities.
