Hospitals still treating those in need of urgent care, OPDs partially open


However, talking to The Express Tribune on Wednesday, the managements of many hospitals in the metropolis clarified that patients who needed immediate medical care, including those suffering from severe injuries, were still being treated at the health care facilities. In fact, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) executive director Dr Seemin Jamali even went on to say that all OPDs at JPMC were kept open. “The number of patients visiting OPDs, however, has declined drastically due to the lockdown,” she pointed out. Around 7,000 patients used to visits the OPDs at the hospital every day, against an average of 2,000 visiting at present, said the hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Khadim Hussain Qureshi. Those who approached the PMA and were found in critical condition were referred to tertiary care hospitals, Dr Shoro said.
