Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust had brought in the charges despite Government announcing charges for NHS workers would be abolished. Following the Mirror story the trust said it will now provide free parking to staff who need it. The Mirror has campaigned for almost three years for the charges to be permanently abolished for everyone. The trust had received additional Covid-19 funding from Government during the pandemic but there is no requirement for this to be ring fenced for parking. “We hope that Epsom and St Helier NHS will do the decent thing and treat their staff with the respect they deserve and that this respect is reflected in decent wages, and fair terms and conditions.
