A 45-year old hospital patient who set a ward on fire by lighting up a cigarette while on oxygen, causing a £50,000 damage, has been jailed for five years. Smoker Lee Williams, 45, from Treherbert, Rhondda, South Wales was repeatedly warned of the dangers but lit up a cigarette causing a fire at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff last May, that did almost £50,000 damage. Cardiff Crown Court heard a nurse had previously found Williams with a lit cigarette but he seemed to be sleeping. Lee Williams, 45, from Treherbert, Rhondda, South Wales was jailed for five yearsProsecutor Andrew Kendall said: 'Williams had been in hospital for two weeks and needed oxygen and a nebuliser. The hospital ward was closed for two weeks while £47,500 of repairs were carried out.
