A hospital consultant who treats children has told how she is crying out to hold more than two clinics a month but is blocked due to lack of space. Another consultant in University Hospital Galway said she was one of a number of recently appointed doctors who are without clinic space and an office. Mr Donnelly acknowledged the building constraints in some hospitals and said if a consultant is appointed they should have the supports. Management and hospital consultants have to find better ways of working together to do more and get better at doing more with what funding is there, he added. “There's definitely been an increase in mental health related to issues within our profession and serious concerns about substance mis-use.
