The Hospital Authority said they are procuring rapid test kits, which could test for multiple major respiratory viruses including COVID-19 and many common strains of influenza. The Authority stressed that with the Covid pandemic, the winter flu season will be worse this year. The test will enable medical staff to identify Covid patients sooner and put those infected under quarantine. The Authority also said they have provided an extra 26,000 general out-patient clinic consultation quotas during the winter influenza season, and four of the clinics will be opened during the holidays. They have allocated HK$1 billion to strengthen their services, hiring more medical staff and encourage current staff to provide medical services during the winter influenza season.-Photo: Commercial Radio HK
