Figures released by ACC showed 7873 people were injured by horses last year and claims had totalled $9,669,964 so far. The largest number of injuries in the past five years occurred in 2014, when there were 8789 horse-related injuries, resulting in claims totalling $14,408,704. Being kicked, stood on or bitten by a horse were also common injuries.
