Officials of the Invercargill Harness Racing Club and Southland Greyhound Racing Club were pleased with compliance to Covid-19 Alert Level 3 regulations by trainers, drivers, stablehands, race officials and other essential workers. Southern Harness Racing general manager Jason Broad and the greyhound club’s secretary-manager, Bronwyn Eade, said participants in both racing codes followed regulations well. Robyn Edie/Stuff Race winner Midnitetraintogeorga, with driver Brent Barclay, Jenn Sheridan and trainer Tony Stratford at the Invercargill Harness Racing Club meeting on Thursday. Gore trainer Tony Stratford won the first harness race with Midnitetraintogeorga on Thursday. Interestingly, the Stratford-trained Dodgethebullet won the first harness race in Southland, also at Invercargill, after the lockdown last year.
