HOPKINTON — The Hopkinton Police Department is raising money for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month by offering specially designed police patches and pins for sale. All money raised will be donated to charities that advocate for the fight against ovarian cancer. The fundraiser was organized by Officer Molly McGaffigan, an ovarian cancer surivivor. “Ovarian cancer is known as a 'silent killer,' which is why awareness on early signs and symptoms is so very important,” she said. "Ovarian cancer can impact women of all ages; however, there are currently no screening tests and that’s why the emphasis on early detection is so important,” she said.
