After waiting 29 years for their championship moment, Dodgers fans watched their hopes disintegrate Wednesday night in about 29 minutes. Later, on the field-level concourse, amid a strong smell of marijuana, sullen departing Dodgers fans screamed about Darvish, screamed at Astros fans, screamed in pain. The Houston Astros beat the Dodgers, 5-1, in Game 7 at Dodger Stadium to win the World Series. They brought a World Series to town for the first time in 29 years. In two World Series starts, Darvish gave up eight runs in 31/3 innings for an astronomical 21.60 ERA.
