Hope for pedestrian crossing near Rupert House School after £40,000 council pledge

A PEDESTRIAN crossing could be installed in Henley after the town council committed up to £40,000 to fund the project. It would be located opposite Rupert House School in Bell Street in response to requests from headteacher Nick Armitage and nearby residents. The town council previously spent £15,000 from developer contributions to hire a consultant to progress design and consultation work on the scheme but this stalled after the contract was terminated last year. Pippa Adams, a parent of two children at Rupert House, said she feared a “life altering incident”. Once this is designed, then the county council does a three-month consultation on it, so it’s not going to happen last week.
