A 56-year-old woman from Sha Tin, Hong Kong lost HK$26.4 million (around $3.3 million or P176 million) to an online love scam in just 18 months. This online love scam has become Hong Kong’s biggest one yet. Police are now trying to trace holders of the bank accounts used to collect the money, but no arrests have been made as of yet. In the Philippines, 10 percent of the reported internet fraud last year alone fall under the love scam category.
