The honesty box at Purakaunui Bay in the Catlins has been broken into and an estimated at least $600 stolen over the weekend. Police are looking to a virtuous public for help after a number of honesty boxes in the Catlins were broken into over the past few weeks. Someone had cut through the padlock on the camping honesty box and taken the money in it. ''It [the honesty box] is right in front of everybody because it's where they camp.'' Another honesty box at Tawanui was broken into the weekend before.
