The man's body was found on Sunday night. Police in Invercargill have launched a homicide investigation following a man's death on Sunday night. Detective Senior Sergeant Stu Harvey said a man's body was found at a property on Oreti St about 8.40pm. The Homicide Report, a Stuff data investigation, shows that at least 1123 people – 301 women, 624 men, 198 young people – have been killed in New Zealand since January 1, 2004. New Zealand's homicide rate of 1.6 per 100,000 people is well below the OECD average of 3.6 per 100,000.
