Seemingly out of the blue an opportunity to purchase the Northland Homegrown franchise popped up, Darlene says. The Pearks partnership took over Homegrown Northland last September and although the experience has been a huge learning curve they have already grown it from there. Darlene says it helps that Homegrown juices are not like other juices on the market because they are raw, cold-pressed juices that go through a cold pasteurised process which doesn't strip it of nutrients like other juice processes. The Northland Homegrown franchise covers the area from Wellsford to Kaitaia. The Homegrown Juice Company originates from when the Brownlie family first planted an orange orchard in Hawke's Bay in 1969.
