The association responsible for planning varsity sports games in Ontario has rejigged the schedule for homecoming football matches in a bid to crack down on rowdy parties plaguing some university cities. Homecoming football games at a half-dozen schools, including Western University, are now crammed into two weekends in September and October, rather than spread over five or six weeks. The move is designed to prevent students from travelling to different universities to party on multiple homecoming weekends, said Gord Grace, the president of Ontario University Athletics (OUA). A spokesperson from Western University declined to comment on the football schedule change. The OUA move comes as universities in southern Ontario are working on strategies to combat homecoming parties.
