By Barbara TetreaultBERLIN — After 48 years serving as an adult day care and senior center, the Holiday Center will close its doors this Friday, June 30. Catholic Charities is negotiating to take over the historic two-story building at 27 Green Square for its local operations. But a feasibility study showed bringing the building up to standards for a medical day center would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars that the center would have to raise. “We built this beautiful community room,” said Losier, noting it is part of an on-going multi-million renovation of the 120-unit complex. According to Berlin historian Paul Tardiff, the Holiday Center building was built in 1903 as the home of City National Bank.
