A hole at the base of a utility pole on Eglinton Ave. E. at Beachell St. was surrounded by plastic fencing and filled with weeds for months. We were reminded of those dispiriting facts when we checked out a hole dug at the base of a utility pole on the north side of Eglinton Ave. E. at Beachell St. It looked to us like the excavation may have had something to do with an underground wiring grid used to provide power to a street light on the pole. And the appearance of neglect about it makes it likely that it was indeed forgotten, which is not an acceptable excuse. We returned on Tuesday and found that the fence was gone and the hole had been filled.
