Member of the House of Representatives Saleh Fahima has stated that France and other countries are adding more fuel to the conflict in Libya. In a statement to the Arabi21 online newspaper on Sunday, Fahima said that the request of the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, to Khalifa Haftar to respect the political process was not from the premise of maintaining the principle of peaceful transfer of power. He added that Le Drian’s request aimed to crack “the military institution” and destroy it under the pretext of defending democracy, according to the newspaper.
