The Dunedin City Council is set to start removing what remains of the historic Sutton suspension bridge next week. The 19th century bridge, over the Taieri River on Sutton-Mount Ross Rd, was destroyed when floodwaters swept through the area in July's floods. The council said in a statement today work to salvage and store the materials from the Sutton-Mt Ross bridge would start on Monday next week and was expected to take around six weeks. The future of the historic Sutton bridge remains in limbo pending a report.
