Historic 113-year-old terracotta-tiled home in west end to be demolished


A terracotta-tiled home nestled on Jerome St. in the west end has stood 113 years. In what city staff are calling a “rare” situation, the heritage-registered property is slated be demolished. The unique terracotta house at 20 Jerome St., in the Junction near Dundas and Dupont Sts. The house built near the turn of the century was originally owned by John Shelley Turner, a west end builder, in 1905. However, “the tiles are the historical feature that the city is keen to figure out how to preserve,” he added.
