Hindustan Zinc Q3 profit surges 26% to Rs 2,320 crore


Hindustan Zinc posted a 26% rise in net profit at Rs 2,320 crore, driven by a 55% surge in zinc prices during the Oct-December’16 quarter, coupled with higher volumes of metal production as revenues jumped 45% to Rs 5,348 crore. The y-o-y increase in revenues was mainly driven by substantially higher volumes, higher metal prices and rupee depreciation HZL numbers were a shade below analysts' expectations of the company posting a net profit of Rs 2,400 in the quarter. HZL did not declare a dividend HZL said its revenues grew 40% q-o-q primarily on account of higher volumes and higher zinc & lead LME. The y-o-y increase was mainly driven by substantially higher volumes, higher metal prices and rupee depreciation. During the quarter, EBITDA was at Rs 2,757 crore, up 33% q-o-q and 88% y-o-y.
