Telemedicine innovator hims has launched a new wellness category to treat one of the most popular ailments of the current digital age: social anxiety. The first product within the new vertical is a prescription product to treat Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), launched simultaneously across its mens’ (hims) and womens’ (hers) direct-to-consumer wellness brands. The newly available prescription drug is a treatment for social anxiety called Propranolol, a beta blocker. According to the brand, Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is the third most common psychiatric condition after major depression and alcohol dependence, and 12.1% of the population suffer from it. Currently, 80% of people with social anxiety go untreated.
