As Mrs Steele viewed the Leppings Lane terrace, she said it "looked very crowded". Mrs Steele added: "I saw police officers looking in towards the pens but nothing seemed to be getting done about it at all. A nurse eventually showed Mrs Steele a signet ring bearing her son's initials. Other bereaved relatives were watching from the court's public gallery as Mrs Steele spoke.
