Hill climb cancelled, drag racing in doubt

The Burt Munro Challenge New Zealand Hill Climb in Southland has been cancelled due to bad weather, and tonight's drag racing event is also in doubt. A post on the organisation's Facebook page this morning said the hill climb could not be run due to strong winds. A decision is yet to be made on whether tonight's planned Harley Davidson Twilight Drag Racing will go ahead. Photo: Jenet GellatlyRacing was scheduled to start at 6pm at Teretonga Park near Invercargill, however spokesman Tyler Wainui said organisers would make the call about 5pm. Westerly gales of up to 120km/h were expected near the coast.
