Three people were killed in a crash involving trucks in the Bay of Plenty near Matata. State Highway 2 has reopened following a crash that killed three road workers in the Bay of Plenty on Tuesday afternoon. Three died at the scene of the four-vehicle crash on Matatā Straight, near Whākatāne. STUFF State Highway 2, on the Matata straight, was closed for hours follwoing the crash. "This is an absolute tragedy, and we are moving to offer our support to those affected and to our people in the area."
