Under the MGNREGA scheme, Tamil Nadu got the 'best implementation' award in 2015-16. In 2015-16, the Tamil nadu economy grew by 8.79 per cent. For a clean Tamil Nadu, the government has decided to built 7.66 lakh house lavatories and public toilets during 2016-17. Rs.2,000 crores allocatted for the 'Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Fund'. In a landmark initiative, for the first time in the country, the State has promoted the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund as an Alternative Investment Fund Category I through TNIFMC.
