Duque said that approximately one in four Filipino adults use tobacco while least 117,000 Filipinos die due to tobacco-related illnesses. “Tobacco consumption does not only harm Filipinos’ health but jeopardizes their ability to reach their full economic potential,” he said. “We earnestly advocate for the passage of increased excise taxes on tobacco and alcohol products once again,” the health chief added.
