Roaring 40s race convenor Don Weir is gearing up for the Saturday power boat event in Timaru. Offshore powerboat racing entries are expected to be double that of 2018 when the machines take to water at Timaru's Caroline Bay on Saturday. JOHN BISSET/STUFF Ryan Archer and co pilot Brett Archer put the pedal to the metal at the 2018 Roaring 40s. "So we will have up to a dozen big guns from the north including V8 Superboats, twin rig outboards, ski boats and some classic V8 boats." Weir said Caroline Bay was one of the best venues for offshore powerboat racing in New Zealand.
