The veteran leader reiterated that the developments in the case shows that opposition leaders were being targeted via probe agencies. Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar have been booked by the ED in connection with the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam to the tune of ₹25,000 crore. On Friday, Pawar also thanked Congress as well as Shiv Sena leaders for speaking in his support. “Sharad Pawar Ji is the latest Opposition leader to be targeted by a vindictive Government. The timing of this action, a month before elections in Maharashtra, reeks of political opportunism," Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on Twitter on Friday.
