High Street braced for £1.4 bn Christmas splurge

Oxford Street will be teeming with shoppers looking for last-minute presents Times photographer Jack HillToday is set to be the busiest shopping day of the year on the high street as millions scramble to buy last-minute Christmas presents. Shoppers are expected to spend £1.4 billion on what analysts have dubbed “super Saturday”. With Christmas Day on Monday, and most internet retailers no longer able to deliver in time, more than nine million people are expected to be out this weekend.
