KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court will hear a judicial review application by ZI Publications Sdn Bhd and its director Mohd Ezra Mohd Zaid which seeks to challenge his 2012 arrest as well as the seizure of 180 copies of a book. High Court (Appellate and Special Powers) judge Justice Kamaludin Md Said fixed Aug 28 for the hearing of the application. On Apr 26, Court of Appeal judge Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat ordered for the judicial review application to be heard before a new High Court judge, saying that the previous High Court judge had erred in dismissing the application. ZI Publications is the publisher of the 388-page Malay translation of an English book titled "Allah, Liberty and Love", written by Canadian author Irshad Manji. They also arrested Mohd Ezra and brought him before a Lower Syarie Court judge in Shah Alam and only freed him after he posted bail.
