KUCHING: The High Court here will deliver its decision on March 13 on the question of whether the Sarawak government can impose state sales tax on Petronas' petroleum products. Judge Azhahari Kamal Ramli reserved his judgment after hearing submissions in Petronas' judicial review proceedings against the state sales tax on Tuesday (Feb 4). As such, he said there was no restriction in Article 95B(3) on the range of goods to be subjected to state sales tax. "Because there is no restriction, the imposition of state sales tax on petroleum products is not in contravention of Article 95B (3)," Fong said. It named the Comptroller of State Sales Tax and the Sarawak state government as first and second respondents.
