MA Masud and MA Matin, two residents of Dhanmondi, filed a writ petition with the High Court in 2011 seeking directives to protect the residential features of Dhanmondi. The verdict, however, did not affect business entities located at Dhanmondi road No. Maple Leaf International School, an English medium one, filed a leave to appeal against the High Court verdict but got turned down on Aug 1. Lawyer Asaduzzaman Siddiqui filed a petition accusing the school authorities over contempt of court. It also issued a rule asking why the principal should not be accused of contempt of court.
