KUCHING: The High Court here has fixed Feb 11 to decide on Petronas' application for a stay of proceedings in the Sarawak government's lawsuit to recover unpaid state sales tax from the national oil corporation. Judicial Commissioner Christopher Chin set the date after hearing the application in chambers on Wednesday (Feb 5). Petronas is applying for the stay of proceedings pending the outcome of its appeal against Chin's earlier decision not to recuse himself from hearing the case. Sarawak is suing the national oil corporation for unpaid state sales tax on petroleum products amounting to RM1.3bil. On Jan 23, Chin dismissed Petronas' application to recuse himself from hearing the state government's lawsuit.
