High Court asks parents to be more cautious after altering Oishee’s sentence

The court has commuted the death penalty handed by the trial court taking into account the following points. Oishee’s parents, police inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman, were found murdered at their apartment in the capital’s Chamelibagh on Aug 16, 2013. The next day, Oishee turned herself in to the police and confessed to killing her parents. While analysing the case, the court has asked parents to give enough time to their children and try to provide them with a healthy environment. In its verdict, the court said Oishee had ‘planned the murder well ahead’.
