Hidden keylogger found on HP laptops - Tech News

A potentially dangerous keylogger was discovered in certain versions of HP’s Synaptics Touchpad drivers which is used in more than 400 HP laptops. The keylogger, if activated, would allow a hacker to record every single keystroke made by the user, including passwords. On the official HP Customer Support bulletin, the company acknowledges the existence of the keylogger and notes that it impacts all Synaptics OEM partners and models such as EliteBook, Spectre Pro, Pavilion, ZBook and Omen. However, the bulletin states that neither Synaptics or HP has access to customer data as a result of the issue. HP has a patch for fixing the driver – visit the Support bulletin to check if your laptop is affected and download the fix if it is.
