An application has been made to the Mackenzie Heritage Fund to repair the fence and gate at Mt Nessing Homestead. Two Mackenzie district homesteads will each receive $2500 in council funding to protect their heritage value. The Mt Nessing homestead is a Historic Place Category 2 item on the New Zealand Heritage List and comes under category 'Y' – important but not significant – in the Mackenzie District Plan.
