Here's why Hopkinton State Park was full of police and fire personnel

Hopkinton State Park was closed down last Friday, with police officers and firefighters flooding the area to search for a missing teen with autism, authorities said. After about 30 minutes, the missing boy was found swimming near the boat launch in Hopkinton, acting Ashland Police Chief Rich Briggs said Monday. The state Department of Conservation and Recreation, the agency in charge of the state park, called Ashland police at 2:30 p.m. Friday to report the missing 14-year-old boy. He had been with his family on the Ashland side of the state park, but wandered off. “The state park is a large-sized property, so it was good to have all of those agencies working together.”Norman Miller can be reached at 508-626-3823 or nmiller@wickedlocal.com.
