I moved to Whangarei for a job that was meant to last 18 months and then send me back to Auckland. If you've complained about house prices, traffic or commute times in Auckland recently, you've probably been told to move out of the city. Their new homes are much bigger (and kilometres closer to the beach) than they could have afforded in Auckland. I've had two kids since I left Auckland but even I can tell that there's a lack of nightlife up here. I miss my Auckland friends - but then, one moved to Havelock North, one to Zanzibar and one is threatening to move to Sydney.
