Here's Why You Need To Stop Using The Phrase 'It's A Blessing In Disguise'

This phrase is a subtle rationalization that allows us to stop listening to, and empathizing with, our friend because it’s probably going to work out just fine. Telling them that whatever tough situation they’re facing is a ‘blessing in disguise’ basically gets us out of listening to them talk more about this tough situation and tries to move things quickly into ‘getting over it’ and just solving whatever’s bothering them. What I discovered, among other things, is that not many leaders respond constructively when their employees share their problems. It's going to have a huge impact on anyone if they feel like their boss can't or won't respond constructively when they share their work problems. Rather than telling someone that their tough situation is, in fact, a good situation, try asking them if they see any way to salvage something good from this difficult situation.
