So after years of watching their players squander their wealth the NFL’s Player Engagement Program launched a new kind of training camp in 2015, known as the Personal Finance Boot Camp. "The NFL Personal Finance Camp started in 2015 by former NFL Player, Patrick Kerney, who felt it was extremely important to educate players on how to sustain their finances,” Carla Lide, Manager for Player Engagement, told Forbes via email. So young people aren't taking advantage of the tools for their financial future or saving appropriately and apparently, neither are NFL players.
